He then worked cartoooning the feature film Bambiwhich he also created model sheets and layouts. He studied at a local School of Art, before moving to California to pursue a career in animation.

InHultgren illustrated the Bambi comic adaptation, along with other stories based on the characters from the movie. This book is out of print and very difficult to come by, but thankfully Sherm Cohen has scanned every single page and put it online for all to enjoy. A year or so later when Dave Newton and I were sharing an apartment after art school, I was looking through a typical pile of Dave’s guitar chord books, monster magazines, fanzines, and graphic novels when I pulled out this thin book titled The Know-How of Cartooning.


Why would you want to acquire the whole book? Ken Hultgren on Cartooning 22 years or so ago I was reading the introduction to a book by that William Stout had written and he referenced the name Ken Hultgren.
